A special surprise for me and birthday celebrations

Good  morning friends and happy Tuesday!

I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed it. We did have a very nice long weekend filled with lots of fun! My husband was home last Friday, so we had time to check off some activities from our Summer bucket list! We went to Canobie Lake park in New Hempshire, we saw a show from the Cirque du Soleil in Boston and we explored a new beach in Manchester by the Sea on Sunday, very exciting and the kids loved all these activities.

This post will be a little random, because I wanted to talk to you about my husband`s birthday celebrations and the presents that we got for him, but I also wanted to talk to you about something very special that just happened, so today I will concentrate on the birthday celebrations and on the very special `gift` that I got and on Friday I will write a post about the presents we got for my husband, which I think could be very useful because I find it very hard to find presents for men (I don`t know if it`s the same for you, but it is always difficult for me to find something original and a little different from the usual gifts, like a perfume, a tie, shoes, a belt…).

Summer essentials for kids

Good morning friends and happy Friday!

I hope you had a nice week and that you are planning your weekend. We don`t know what we are going to do yet, but we will enjoy the sun if the weather is nice.

Today I wanted to talk a little about my kids` Summer favorites so far. My kids have different interests: Aurora likes to read, draw, paint, she likes to play with her Barbies and to dress up. Leonardo likes to run and play sports but he also likes to read, Alessandro likes to go around in the yard and look for bugs, he likes puzzles and books too. The three of them like to play in the yard with the trampoline, on the swing, on the amaca, with water toys. They like to get wet in the yard, especially with the sprinklers and water balloons. A part from these activities there are some toys that they are loving at the beach and at home:

A Summer recipe: crostata with lemon curd

Good morning my friends and happy Friday!

I hope you had a wonderful week and that you are enjoying your Summer. I am not sure why, but I am under the impression that time flies even faster when it is warm outside, is it because I love Spring and Summer so much? I always feel like I need more time to do all the things that I would like to.

Today I want to talk to you about food and in particular I will give you the recipe for a pie. I made it three times already lately and it is always has a great success, I love it and the people who tried it loved it (or maybe they were just being polite?!!). Anyway, I think it is amazing and I think that you have to try to make it, it is very easy and pretty quick. I have to admit, I kind of invented it putting together two things that I love: crostata and lemon curd. I wasn`t sure of the outcome the first time, but I am very proud of myself! I got the recipe for the pie base (the crostata) from one of my favorite cook books from Benedetta Parodi. I always use this recipe when I make crostata, I tried many different variations (including a vegan one and one that uses oil instead of butter) but this is the best and I think I already talked about it in an old post. Then I decided to cover the crostata shell with a thin layer of jam and then with some lemon curd! This lemon curd is amazing because it is very fresh and light, it is not made with milk, but water and a few more ingredients. It is also very versatile because you can use it to fill cakes or you could even pair it with fruit if you feel like having something sweet but don`t want to bake a cake. You can also make it vegan if you omit the butter. I got this recipe from the famous chiarapassion.com blog, which I talk to you about every time I give you a recipe. She has the recipe of this curd also in a strawberry variation but I like the lemon one much better.

Favorite jewelry for Summer

Good morning my friends and happy Friday!

I hope you had a very nice week and are planning a great weekend. We had a nice (but tough) week with a new camp for Aurora, today my husband is coming back home from a trip to Europe and I have to say that I am glad, because the kids were a little all over the place. They were adjusting to their routine (the boys are back in school after a two week break) but then their dad left for a week for his work trip, their teacher was on vacation so they had the other teachers who usually help her, but it is not exactly the same. So we are still all getting adjusted, but we are ready to spend the weekend together.

Today I wanted to talk to you about jewelry, not the real one of course,  but the pretty, easy,  inexpensive jewelry that is good for everyday use and especially for Summer. I wanted to share with you some pieces because I found some on Etsy lately that I really love and what I like the most is to support small shops. I also found some colorful earrings which I think are perfect for Summer (not my husband`s favorites, haha!!). Some pieces are from Madewell which I believe delivers worldwide, so it is a great news for my Italian friends! So are you ready? Let`s get started:

New favorites for Summer

Good morning friends and happy Friday!

I am happy because this week I was able to post both on Tuesday and today. This was possible because the boys were in school and Aurora went to a soccer camp on Monday, so I had time to prepare a bunch of posts that day!

How is your week going, do you have any plans for the weekend? We are happy that it is coming but we don`t have anything planned yet, a part enjoying the sun and probably going to the beach!

Our Summer bucket list

Good morning dear friends and welcome back!

I am finally back after taking a couple weeks off. I am not sure how long this will last, but be patient, Summer is a tricky time, I will try to write new posts for the blog and to post on Instagram as much as I can, but I also want to take the time to enjoy my family and spend some time with my kids.

I didn`t go anywhere these past two, three weeks and we are not planning on leaving for the Summer, but with the end of the school year life got a little more complicated (but also easier in many ways!) without our usual routine. Aurora was home and the boys have been home too these last two weeks. We took advantage of these days to do some activities: my husband took a couple days off and we went to a water park and to Boston Common park when they opened the Summer season at the frog pond. We went strawberry and cherry picking, we made some trips to Boston and had picnics at the park. We also played a lot with our water slide in the yard, which the kids are loving! Starting on Monday (yesterday) the boys will go back to school and hopefully they will feel like their life will go back to normal. I don`t know if it happens to your kids too, but mine (especially one of the boys) do great with routine, they need to know what is happening and what to expect, with the random activities and the school closed, they felt a little lost, and this led to tantrums, a lot of complaining, whining and crying!
